The Hidden Problem with RV Toilet Odors

You bought your RV for the freedom to travel, not to worry about unpleasant odors every time someone uses the bathroom.

Yet for many cassette toilet owners, it’s just part of RV life.

You open the bathroom door and catch that familiar smell. Someone uses the toilet, and a few minutes later the entire RV seems to know about it. Maybe you crack open a window, turn on the roof vent, or reach for another dose of toilet chemicals, hoping they’ll make a difference.

Sometimes they help. Sometimes they simply cover one smell with another.

The reality is that the odors don’t come from your bathroom—they come from the cassette itself. Every time you use the toilet, gases from the waste tank can make their way back into your living space.

That’s why so many RV owners find themselves constantly trying to manage the smell instead of enjoying their travels.

After all, your bathroom should be just another comfortable part of your RV—not a room everyone tries to avoid.

A Better Way to Keep Your RV Bathroom Fresh

What if, instead of trying to mask odors with chemicals, you could stop them from entering your RV in the first place?

That’s exactly what the SOG Odor Extraction System does.

When you open the toilet blade, a small electric fan automatically switches on. Instead of allowing odors to escape into your bathroom, the SOG creates negative pressure inside the cassette, drawing the air through an activated carbon filter and venting it safely outside your RV.

The result is simple: the odors never have the chance to fill your bathroom.

Because the SOG removes odors at the source, many RV owners find they no longer need harsh chemicals just to make the bathroom bearable. Your bathroom stays fresher, more comfortable, and far more pleasant to use—whether you’re traveling alone or sharing your RV with family and friends.

It’s one of those upgrades you stop thinking about after the first trip—because your bathroom simply smells… normal.

The Complete RV Bathroom Upgrade

The SOG and Twusch solve two different problems—but together, they completely transform your RV bathroom.

The SOG keeps unpleasant cassette odors where they belong: outside your RV.

Twusch transforms the toilet itself. Its smooth, non-porous porcelain surface is easier to keep clean, resists stains and scratches, and feels much more like the toilet you have at home.

Together, they tackle the two biggest complaints RV owners have about cassette toilets:

✔ An unpleasant bathroom experience.

✔ A plastic toilet that’s difficult to keep looking and feeling clean.

The result is a bathroom that’s fresher, cleaner, and far more enjoyable to use every single day.

That’s why so many of our customers choose the Dream Team bundle. Instead of improving just one part of the experience, they upgrade the entire bathroom in one go.

Because life on the road should feel comfortable—even in the smallest room of your RV.

Frequently asked questions
Will the SOG fit my RV toilet?

The SOG is available for many of the most popular Thetford cassette toilets, including the C220, C250/C260, C400 and others. Simply select your toilet model when ordering, or contact us if you’re unsure—we’re happy to help you find the correct system.

When you open the toilet blade, the SOG’s electric fan automatically turns on. It creates negative pressure inside the waste cassette, drawing odors away from the toilet and venting them outside through an activated carbon filter. Instead of odors entering your bathroom, they’re removed at the source.

The SOG eliminates the need for chemicals to control odors, since odors are vented outside instead of lingering inside your RV. Many customers choose to reduce or even eliminate traditional odor-control chemicals. However, some RV owners still use tank treatments for waste breakdown, lubrication, or their personal maintenance routine.

Most RV owners install their SOG themselves using basic hand tools by following the included instructions. Installation typically takes one to two hours, depending on your RV model and your experience. If you’d rather not install it yourself, any RV service center should be able to help.

Under normal operation, odors pass through the activated carbon filter before being vented outside. Most users notice little to no odor around the RV during normal use.

Absolutely. In fact, many of our customers do. Twusch makes your toilet cleaner, smoother, and more comfortable to use, while the SOG keeps your bathroom fresh by preventing cassette odors from entering your RV. Together, they create what we call the Dream Team—a cleaner, fresher, more enjoyable RV bathroom.

Toilet chemicals are an ongoing expense that help mask odors—they don’t prevent them from entering your RV.

The SOG is a one-time upgrade that removes odors at the source by venting them outside before they can fill your bathroom. Instead of continually buying chemicals to manage the problem, you’re investing in a system that improves your RV experience every single day.

For many RV owners, the difference is noticeable from the very first trip. A fresher bathroom, fewer chemicals, and a more comfortable living space make the SOG one of those upgrades they wish they had installed sooner.
